CALEA Preliminary Implementation Report Deadline Delayed

The Second Report and Order released by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) concerns CALEA compliance requirements. The Order mandates that each organization required to comply with CALEA submit a preliminary "CALEA Implementation Report for Broadband and VoIP Services." Originally due in the fall/early winter of 2006, the deadline has now been extended to January 2007 at the very earliest. No specific date in January is known at this time; the FCC plans to release the due date for this form sometime in October. The date to comply with all CALEA requirements remains May 17, 2007.
