EBSCOhost: Searchasaurus interface redesign releasing early 2007
EBSCO Publishing will release its new Searchasaurus interface in early 2007. At this time, the release is slated for January 2007. This update includes a completely redesigned K-3 interface, which is similar in its basic construction to the Kids Search and Student Research Center interfaces. The databases that it searches will be the same: Primary Search, Funk & Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia, EBSCO Animals and American Heritage Children's Dictionary.
Some of the key updates will include:
- The introduction of Interface Search Topics, using the popular dinosaur graphics and selectable by the user
- A streamlined Result List with source type filtering
- An Enhanced Spellchecker
- Keyword searching on the start page
- Enhanced graphical design with brighter colors and enlarged font size
- The use of Lexiles to pinpoint appropriate titles
- Easy access to Picture searching via toolbar
- Top searches listed on the start page, and a more prominent Fun Facts display
- The addition of a Teacher Resources link to access the Search other databases and Title Lists functionality, for example, or to choose a specific database to search, like the Teacher Resources page in the Kids Search and Student Research Center interfaces
- The Visual Search option, controlled by library administrators in EBSCOadmin
