USENET Services

Summary

NNTP-based Usenet news is a method for publicly broadcasting messages (articles, comments, binary-encoded and text files) which are loosely organized into Newsgroups. By subscription, these messages are both sent and received at your site by dedicated hardware and software called a news server. A user at your site then uses software called a news reader to read, write, reply, upload and download messages within the newsgroups.

MOREnet offers NNTP-based Usenet feeds to its members. The purpose is to reduce traffic coming from the Internet by collecting the feeds once and redistributing them across the MOREnet backbone to any subscribing member. Hopefully, this will eliminate the same article coming across the Internet for each participating member and eliminate the need for members to subscribe to (and pay for) several newsfeeds.
